2019 Coaching Positions Announcement

October 10, 2018 by

The Tigers have finalised its Coaching Positions for 2019.

The announcement of Coaching appointments was made at the highly successful Tigers Presentation Night last Friday evening.

Under 18 Grade

The Under 18 Grade Rising Stars team will have the extremely popular Chris Clifton in charge for the fourth consecutive year. His passion and desire for youth development within the organisation has resulted in two grand final appearance in three years in this grade.

Tigerettes 1st and Reserves Grades

In addition, he has also been appointed as the Tigerettes 1st Grade Coach for 2019, an appointment which has been well received from the strong and increasing female membership base of the club.

Chris will name a contingent of assistants for both grades in coming weeks which is expected to include the majority of those that have been involved in the Rising Stars for the past three years.

Tim Hull has been reappointed to the Tigerettes Reserve Grade Coaching position and is expected to have club legend Robert Anderson once again assisting amongst other family duties.

Men’s Reserve Grade

Alex Lawder will again oversee the Men’s Reserve Grade team for a third season as they strive for that elusive premiership flag after falling just short over the past two Grand Finals.

Alba’s passion for the club and players has seen the squad’s depth increase over the years and with the incoming group of Rising Stars looking to forge their way into 1st Grade footy Alba’s re-appointment is crucial in their development to strive for senior footy.

1st Grade Appointment – Head Coach

The surprise appointment is that of Club General Manager Adrian Pavese as the Senior Grade Coach.

Pavese re-joined the Tigers Club 12 months ago as full time General Manager after Coaching stints at Griffith in the Riverina (2016 and 2017), Gungahlin (2015) and prior being Senior Grade Coach of Ovens and Murray League Club Corowa – Rutherglen. He has also been Assistant Coach for the past two years of the GWS GIANTS Women’s team that has played in the AFL Women’s competition.

His vast coaching experience over the past 27 years at both junior and senior levels also includes premierships with the Tigers as Coach of the Reserves (2009, 2010 and 2011), caretaker Coach of the Tigers NEAFL team in 2011 and as Assistant Coach of the Tigers NEAFL Premiership team of 2012 which defeated a star-studded Sydney Swans combination at Manuka Oval.

The above Coaching experience and that of being involved with the GIANTS Women’s program held his application in high regard.

Although his workload with the Club has now doubled (holding down the General Managers position and the Senior Grade Coaching position), the Club is confident he can handle the situation given his enormous contribution over the past twelve months as General Manager.

His first appointment has been that of an on field Assistant Coach, that being the very popular and experienced Toby Conroy, a member of the Tigers 2012 NEAFL Premiership.  Toby is a former Club 1st Grade Best and Fairest player (2010) and a 2017 Premiership player of Leeton Football Club in the Riverina Football League – Leeton being his junior football club. Other appointments are expected to be announced shortly.

DIVISION 3 Men’s GRADE

With all current vacancies now filled, the club now turns it’s focus on their Division 3 Men’s ambitions and are now seeking Coaching Expressions of Interest for the role from all potential applicants wanting to join this great club.

All interested people please send through your EOI & Coaching experience to general.manager@tigersclub.com.au or call the General Manager 0429 913 436.

Players

Several former players are expected to return to bolster player depth while the Club is well placed with a talented group of Under 18 Grade players at its disposal in 2019, the majority of who signed with the Club prior to the end of the 2018 season.

Appreciation

The Tigers Club would like to pass on its thanks and appreciation to both Dave Corcoran and Cheyne Webster for their contribution to the 1st Grade Men’s and Women’s teams respectively. Both were outstanding in their commitment(s) to the organisation and were highly regarded by the Board during their respective 1st Grade Coaching appointments.
