Bulldogs Visit to Tiger Land a Huge Hit!
In what was a fantastic three days for the Queanbeyan Region, nine Western Bulldogs AFL Stars visited schools and attended the Junior Tigers Registration Day during their AFL Community Camp program.
The Bulldogs players included Captain & 349 game veteran Brad Johnson, Triple Premiership Player & 2001 Brownlow Medalist Jason Akermanis, 167 game star Robert Murphy, established players Tim Callan and Andreius Everitt. Also making a visit to our city were Rookies Brennan Stack, Shane Thorne, Ed Prato and Matthew Panos.
Schools in the Queanbeyan Area that were visited included QBN East, QBN Public, QBN West, Jerrabomberra, Bungendore, Sutton and Gundaroo Public Schools.
Approx 700 children were entertained by the players for half an hour and prizes and handouts were the highlight.
The other highlight of the three days was the AFL players attending the Junior Tigers Rego Day on the Saturday. Approx 50 people showed up between 12pm to 1pm to have photos and get autographs for the Bulldogs Stars. Captain Brad Johnson being the obvious hit of the afternoon.

JUNIOR TIGERS NEW PRINCIPAL PARTNER!
Queanbeyan Tigers Junior Football Club are pleased to announce that long time supporter and sponsor of the Junior Tigers, Palmer’s TV Antennas & Satellite Installations as their new Principal Partner for the next 3 years.
In a huge boost for the junior club the owner of Palmer’s Mick Palmer agreed to terms last week and he was impressed with the direction the Juniors were heading and was more than happy being involved with the club for the next 3 years.
Football Manager Adrian Pavese expressed his excitement about the new deal, “To have a local company like Palmer’s who has supported the Juniors over the past 10 years, it was a very easy decision to offer Mick the Inaugural Principal Partner Sponsorship of the Junior Tigers”.
“The juniors have been very fortunate to have Palmer’s support and this partnership begins a new era for both organisations. To be aligned with such a fantastic company is a huge bonus for our club and we look forward to the next 3 years with renewed optimism due to this sponsorship arrangement” Pavese added
Junior Tigers Winners!
In October the NRMA Motoring Services division joined forces with Rebel Sport in running a competition for sporting organisations and individuals to win gift cards for their club with the grants totalling $150,000.
Football Manager Adrian Pavese entered the Junior Tigers and with the help of our fantastic Tiger family in both the Senior and Junior Club’s the Juniors were one of the the major winners in the $5000.00 category!
“I received a phone call on the 17th December (my last day before holiday’s) to say that we were successful, you could imagine my excitement that the Junior Tigers had been one of the lucky entries as there were over 400 clubs entered” Pavese said.
” I would like to thank everyone who jumped on board to support our entry as this financial boost to our Junior Club will be well used in supplying much needed new equipment” Pavese added.
Judges for this competition included Aussie swimming Great Dawn Fraser and Manly Rugby League Legend Geoff Toovey. The $5000.00 win has to be spent on new equipment for the club and the Tigers have 12 months to spend the grant.
For a club who puts a lot of effort and resources into their Junior Tigers on a shoe string budget this grant will give them a huge boost going into 2010. A big thank you to NRMA and Rebel Sport for running the competition.
