The Bakers Delight Jerrabomberra U10’s
Round 10 – 24/07/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met Weston Creek at Stirling. The boys took a while to warm up after the school holiday break with a slow start in the first quarter.
Some great handballing skills by Stephen Cantwell in the back line saved many of Weston Creeks forward movements. Jack Ross was inspirational in the second quarter showing great courage and skill in shutting down Weston Creeks attack. An inspirational half time talk by coach Heath Ross got the boys going forward with Trent Buchanan and Tom McNamara teaming well in the forward line.
Tom Porter managed a terrific goal with Jack McNamara putting on a great Sheppard to put him in the clear. Daniel Brown again stopped Weston Creek from scoring on several occasions while Jamie Edwards had a fantastic overall game.

Round 9 – 3/07/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met the Tuggeranong Bulldogs at Halloran Drive. Although it was difficult to see the far end of the ground due to the fog, the boys demonstrated skills learnt at training with Daniel Brown again showing great defense skills with strong support from Tom McNamara and Jack Ross. We saw some fantastic handballing skills from Jack McNamara who had a terrific game along with Jamie Edwards.
Thomas Porter improves each week while Lachlan Forder and Trent Buchanan went in hard and came out with the ball on each contest. Lachlan Obers did some fantastic ruck work and got the ball out of the centre on each occasion. Stephen Cantwell played his 25th game for the tigers and showed great ability through the midfield. Matthew Close hasn’t taken long to find his way around the field and is a great asset to the team.
A big thank you to Cooper Newman and Brad Millynn for helping out the team this week – both boys had their first game of AFL and they were fantastic on field – let’s hope we can sign them up next year!

Round 8 – 26/06/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met the Eastlake Vipers at Mawson oval. All 18 registered players were there to clap on Jack and Tom McNamara who celebrated their 50th game for the Tigers. It was a tough game with the boys finding themselves up against a team that managed to stop them from playing to their usual great game.


Jack Ross, Jarred Smith and Tom McNamara all showed tremendous courage by managing to break through the tough defense of the vipers. Hayden Hunter and Daniel Brown managed to stop the opposition from scoring as many goals as they would have liked by working hard in the back line and clearing the ball to the centre.
Mitchell Ambler and Trent Buchanan again showed great skills this week with some terrific handballing. Tom Porter and Jack McNamara played terrific games going in hard for the ball and managing pinpoint passes to teammates.
Louka Mantzouris did a great job in the forward line managing to get out on his own while Lachlan Obers spoiled some opposition marks. Lachlan Forder and Callum Garrety were strong in the midfield while Ben Millynn and Bailey Walkers tackling stopped the viper’s forwards from scoring.

Round 7 – 19/06/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met the Calwell Swans at Halloran Drive oval. Once again our boys showed improvement in their kicking and handball skills and it was great to see the team work through out the game.
New player Matthew Close had a blinder and he has showed he fits in very well as a Tiger player. Bailey Walker continues to impress as does the rest of the team.
It is fantastic to see the way the boys are bringing each other into the game with some great play running out of the backline and delivering the ball into the forward line.

Round 6 – 5/06/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met the Tuggeranong Lions at Gordon oval. Watching from the sidelines all parents agreed it was one of the best games of football we have seen this year. Tom McNamara, Trent Buchanan and Tom Porter managed to get the ball to the forward line on each contest. Daniel Brown had a fantastic game kicking 3 very exciting goals. Jack Ross and Jamie Edwards showed tremendous tackling skills while Callum Garrety and Lachlan Obers pressure on Lions players was great to watch.
Mitchell Ambler and Jack McNamara were consistent with their disposals and contributed to 3 goals in the last quarter.
Stephen Cantwell and Lachlan Forder played fantastic games with Stephen showing his handballing skills learnt at training.
Louka Mantzouris’ leading for the ball earnt him the Network Video award while Ben Millynn played his usual consistent game. Bailey Walker continues to shine each week with 2 goals kicked during the game. It was hard to not hand out 15 awards this week as all boys played exceptionally well.

Round 5 – 29/05/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met Marist at a very wet Halloran drive. While most junior sports were cancelled the Under 10 Tigers and Marist decided to play. Tough kids these ones and it took the boys a little while to warm up and get used to the wet ball with Bailey Walker having a terrific game and kicking the only goal of the first quarter. Stephen Cantwell and Lachlan Obers worked hard in the second quarter while Ben Millynn got some great clearances through the midfield. Daniel Brown worked hard in defense and managed to leap in the air to stop a Marist goal. Callum Garrety continues to improve every week and his kicking to open space was fantastic. Lachlan Forder was great in defending and playing in front while Hayden Hunter’s tackling skills were excellent to watch. All boys showed tremendous courage and skill considering the conditions – it was a joy to watch.

Round 4 – 22/05/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met the Eastlake Red backs at Halloran Drive. The boys again demonstrated skills learnt at training with newcomer Mitchell Ambler showing great skill while tackling with support from Hayden Hunter and Jarred Smith. We saw some fantastic handballing skills from Tom McNamara and Jamie Edwards while Jack McNamara was pleased to kick his first goal of the year. Jack Ross and Trent Buchanan went in hard and came out with the ball on each contest. A big Thank you to Mick Porter for umpiring the game whose son Tom improves every week. Round 3 – 16/05/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met Weston Creek at Halloran Drive. The boys all showed tremendous courage throughout the game with Stephen Cantwell and Bailey Walker finding great accuracy when handballing to teammates. Louka Mantzouris found himself open space each time in the forward line while Callum Garrety took a fantastic mark and used his time to find a free Tigers player. Jamie Edwards as usual threw himself at the ball each time and managed to stop Weston Creeks backline from gaining further possessions. Jack Ross, Jarred Smith and Tom McNamara all played a brilliant 4 quarters and all teammates enjoyed a finger bun after the game kindly donated by Louise and Nick Smith of Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight. What a great way to end a great game.

Round 2 – 8/05/2010
This week the under 10’s Jerrabomberra Bakers Delight met the Tuggeranong bulldogs at Gordon Oval. The ball was mainly dominated by the Bulldogs in the first half but after the half time talk things certainly turned around where we saw some great teamwork and skills the boys have learnt at training put to use. Jamie Edwards and Ben Millyn showed tremendous effort in gaining the ball and looking for teammates under enormous pressure. Tom Porter scored a beautiful goal off the accurate kick of Jack McNamara. Bailey Walker worked hard in the back line keeping Tuggeranong away from the goal posts. Daniel Brown was constant throughout the game along with Trent Buchanan and Lachlan Forder. Tom McNamara, Lachlan Obers and Jarred Smith all showed great tackling abilities and were first to the ball at every contest. Award winners this week for their fantastic overall effort were:

Round 1 – 1/05/2010
The Under 10’s kicked off the season at Halloran Drive against the Eastlake Vipers. All players were glad to see their teammate Joey Griffiths there to support them after breaking his leg 8 weeks ago. Queanbeyan started strong with Trent Buchanen showing great endeavor to win the ball. Newcomers Lachlan Forder and Lachlan Obers showed great skill while Ben Millyn and Tom Porter both received awards for their efforts. Jack McNamara and Daniel Brown combined well in defense to clear the ball.
Next week we take on the Tuggeranong Bulldogs at Gordon.
