From there the game became a tough slog with many numbers around the ball at all times. This style of play is somewhat foreign to the boys but their determination in winning the hardball and clearing it to a team-mate continued to be strong. The boys worked hard to move the ball forward, with Conner Hogan, Lachlan Squire and Reed Stevens outstanding.

The tackling pressure of Josiah Hall, Enrique Arquero and Aiden McShane stopped the Eastlake forwards from scoring while James Kretschmer and Trent Haagensen again showed their value by clearing the ball at every opportunity. Hayden Thompson and Nicholas Wagland were strong marking options throughout the day and used the ball well.
