Doves Away Under 12s
Round 10 – 24/07/2010
There were many highlights in the Tiger’s win over a very good Tuggeranong Lions outfit at Gordon Oval on Saturday.
Conner Deighton timed his run perfectly to fire thorough the opening goal and lift the Tiger’s early lack of urgency. The Tigers characteristically absorbed the Lions physical approach in the first quarter with strong efforts by Aiden Bowyer, Wilson Morsehead, Rylie Young and George Cross.
Coach Pribyl asked the team to create space and use quick ball movement to change the balance of play. A long range effort from Jack Hill and tireless forward play by Lewellyn Davies, Angus Hoadley, Jake Turner and Mikey Pribyl gave the Tigers the first half advantage.
The Tiger’s third quarter creative ball movement paid dividends with successive goals to Jack Hill. Thomas Christou was involved at the heart of many moves and an intelligent pass found Tyler Van Luin free to create a goal.
The team began to play their best football with Zac Virgo goaling from long distance, Noah Barrow taking a terrific mark and Kieran Organ scoring a big goal to spark further enthusiasm. Ben Thomas, Jackson Street and Jack Steele attacked the ball and blocked any build up of Lion’s play.
It was an impressive return to form in the last half scoring a 12.2.74 to 1.1.7.win which provided much delight to Coaches Pribyl and Gray, Manager Mackenzie and their fans.

Round 9 – 3/07/2010
The Tigers enjoyed the friendliness and hospitality provided at their first home game at Kenmore Oval, Goulburn.
They started brightly in the first quarter with opening goals to Rory Heffernan and Mikey Pribyl and followed Coach Gray’s advice to favor the centre and Kenmore side of the ground.
All players showed good sportsmanship; particularly the Tigers who switched Guernsey have to play for St Edmunds whom had reduced numbers.
The third quarter “head count” disruption was very well managed by the umpire, but it unsettled the young tigers and it was the experienced old heads of George Cross, Noah Barrow and Wilson Moreshead who found themselves building momentum and steadying the team, with the young blood of Thomas Christou, Lewellyn Davies and Jake Turner restoring the advantage.
The safe marking and speed of Jackson Street in his 50th game, and Jack Hill’s goal scoring, assisted the team’s creditable performance of an 8.4.52 to 3.6.24 win over St Edmunds.
The Tigers finished by creating a line of honour and enthusiastically celebrated Jackson’s milestone game for the club.

Round 8 – 26/06/2010
BYE
The Queanbeyan/Goulburn Tigers confronted the Tuggeranong Bulldogs at Steve Mauger oval in cold conditions.
After a slow, if not distracted start, the Tigers turned it up in the second and third quarters. Their teamwork was solid, and their ball movement occasionally displayed the renowned flair and speed that has seen them emerge as a top flight team. Jake Turner made the most of his goal scoring opportunities and Jack Hill showed his skill with some fine goals.
Not to be out done Thomas Christou launched a massive 45 metre shot which sailed through to put the result beyond doubt.
The Bulldogs tried hard to pull back the ever increasing deficit, but the confident play of Robert Kendrick, Rory Heffernan, Lewellyn Davies, Kieran Organ and
Riley Hore created a strong defensive wall. With Jackson Street playing some of his best football, Nathan Organ launching himself into tackles and Wilson Moreshead rampaging through the centre, the Bulldogs were on the back foot and forced to utilize a counter-attack approach to play.
The Tigers scored a 9.4.58 to 3.3.21 win.

Round 6 – 5/06/2010
The Queanbeyan/Goulburn Tigers traveled to Calwell oval to play the highly placed Calwell Swans.
In a fiercely contested first quarter the Tigers found it difficult to break clear and both teams fought hard to gain the first break. Riley Young caused an immediate impact when he came into the game with quick rebounding and swerving skills. The Tigers frenetic tempo allowed them to enter the half-time break with a slight ascendancy. For the remainder of the game the resolute defense marshaled by Wilson Moreshead and Ben Thomas held the Swans at bay and by three quarter time the Tigers had extended their lead. Aidan Bowyer, Kieran Organ and George Cross created some golden opportunities for the competition’s leading goal scorer Jack Hill to fire a further two straight. Conner Deighton and Angus Hoadley led well to position, as the midfield’s fluent movement of the ball led to a period of sustained domination in the third and final quarters with goals to Robert Kendrick, Lewellyn Davies, Zac Virgo and Mikey Pribyl. Tyler Van Luin coolly finished off a nice passage of play with a goal as the Swans succumbed to the Tiger’s pace.
The Tigers finished strongly winning 8.5.53 to the Calwell Swans 1.1.7.

Round 4 – 22/05/2010
The Queanbeyan/Goulburn Tigers were keen to preserve their top flight status against Gungahlin Jets at Amaroo.
They started brightly with Tyler Van Luin drilling a long-range shot and held the advantage as Rory Heffernan, Robert Kendrick, Keiran Organ and Aidan Bowyer dominated play in the first half.
The decisive ruckwork of George Cross and Thomas Christou caused the ball to be moved by a flowing group of midfielders into the forward zone.
Coaches Pribyl and Gray are developing a very attack-minded team with Jake Turner, Connor Hayes, Zac Virgo and Jack Hill leading their assault.
At the other end, Lewellyn Davies, Nathan Organ and Jackson Street broke down the Jet’s attempts at scoring.
The Tigers continued to keep their supporters excited in the final quarter with their endeavors yielding a winning margin of 70 points.
Tigers 12.10.82 defeated Jets 2.2.12.
The team head to the home soil of Kenmore Oval, Goulburn next week.

Round 3 – 16/05/2010
The Queanbeyan/Goulburn Tigers posted their second consecutive five goal opening quarter against the Tuggeranong Lions in slippery conditions on Sunday morning.
The first goals were fired through by Jack Hill, Kieran Organ, Nathan Organ and Mikey Pribyl. The furious pace of the match continued in the second quarter with Jack Hill squeezing through a goal on the run and Riley Hore marking and playing on into an open goal. Mikey Pribyl sealed an outstanding first half team performance with a goal.
In the second half the Lions stood up and the Tigers defense of Jack Steel, Tyler Van Luin, Ben Thomas and Jackson Street faced a wave of attacks. Wilson Moreshead and George Cross offered defensively-strong resistance. Aidan Bowyer was most effective in intercepting kicks and Noah Barrow was tackling strongly to prevent the Lions from adding to their total.
A goal to Tyler Van Luin gave the Tigers a quick breather as the Lions stepped up the pressure in the final quarter. Mikey Pribyl sealed the game with a goal, with the final margin of victory being 27 points.
The Tigers deserved the 10.10.70 to 6.7.43 win.

Round 2 – 8/05/2010
This was the first game for the QBN/Goulburn Under 12s who had a bye in round 1. All the boys were more than ready to get their season under way. This year the numbers have been bolstered by a very dedicated group of boys from the Goulburn Swans who along with the 14 boys who played for the Tigers last year in Under 11 have given Queanbeyan a full strength side. The 2010 year also sees the return of Coach Ed Pribyl who has been with the boys for three years now and he has been joined by Coach Jason Gray from the Goulburn club.
Once the game got under way it was a dream start for the Pribyl and Gray coached combination with a five goal opening quarter. The team played sensationally with the game controlled from the midfield by George Cross, Aiden Bowyer, Noah Barrow, Tyler Van Luin, Jack Hill and Riley Hore. All players were getting accustomed to the full tackling and after being a bit tentative at the start they soon hit their straps.
The defensive duo of Jackson Street and Ben Thomas were in fine form against determined opposition. Zac Virgo and Angus Hoadley played with power and tenacity and St Edmunds were under constant fire with goals to Thomas Christou, George Cross, Conner Deighton, Rory Heffernan, Jack Hill, Wilson Morseshead, Nathan Organ, Mikey Pribyl and Tyler Van Luin.
The Tigers finished strongly with a victory over the home team 13-6-84 to 0-3-3. Needless to say the boys sang the club song with gusto and felt more than satisfied that their first game of the season was under their belts.
