Induction to Wall of Fame status
The Tigers 43rd 100 Club Function will be held on Saturday 17 August at the Tigers Licensed Club and will once again recognise many individuals who have given outstanding service to the organisation whether as players, officials and or volunteers.
Heading the list will be the elevation of two of our champion players to LEGEND Status being Tony Wynd and Mark Armstrong who were announced to be elevated at the Tigers 100 Year Dinner back in April.
The 100 Club Function will be the official recognition of these two Champion players as #4 and #5 Legends of the organisation.
Also, on the night - will be the recognition of 150 AFL Canberra games by Lachlan Highfield and 150 1st Grade games by Josh Bryce. Game milestone will also be recognised to Tim Shea and Tim Clowry both of whom have reached the 100 Club Games milestone.
A ten-year reunion of the 2014 Men’s 1st Grade team will also be acknowledged with many of the players being in attendance. The Club supported a NEAFL Team and a 1st Grade team in that year.
Long time volunteer and senior grade runner Aaron Tape will be inducted into the 100 Club as an Associate Official for his enormous contribution over the past ten years.
One of the highlights of the night will be the recognition of Lauren Flakelar who became the Tigerettes record 1st Grade games holder this year. This achievement is also recognised with Wall of Fame & Walk of Fame Status and Life Membership.
The criteria for our Ladies differing to that of the men for this type of recognition due to shorter seasons in the early days of the Tigerettes and various health reasons including pregnancy etc.
Lauren will become the 66th Wall of Fame recipient.
Just recently the subcommittee in charge of 100 Club recognition and Wall of Fame Status considered two suggestions for induction with unanimous agreement to include Allan Mapleson and Kade Klemke as the 67th and 68th Wall of Fame recipients.
“Mapo" being one of the most recognisable Full Forwards of his day in the late 80’s and 90’s. He is the fourth highest goalkicking forward in the Clubs History with 448 goals including a Club Record of 127 in one season (1992).
Kade’s record speaks for itself having joined the Tigers as 1st Grade Player / Coach for the 2012 Season – along the way being part of 4 Premierships, 3 consecutive 1st Grade Best and Fairest awards and considered by many to be one of the best players ever to don the black and gold jumper in its 100 Year History.
A full history of all of the Wall of Fame recipients is documented in the most recent Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright History book available for the Tigers Office at the Footy Ground.
Bookings for the function are limited and close this Friday at close of business. Please contact General Manager Adrian Pavese on 0429913436.
