In a major coup for the Tigers drive towards having the best female program available in the AFL Canberra space, former Player and now successful business owner Chris Walmsley has signed up as the Tigers Female Programs Partner for 2018.
Chris now joins another former player in Luke Cheetham (Sleep Doctor Female Footballs Partner) in assisting the club to provide quality resources and equipment for their female teams.
When confirming the partnership, Chris was glowing in his praise and love for the club, “When your young you don’t fully understand what and how much this club actually gives you” he said
“It’s only since I’ve been gone and now made a good life for myself and my family do you truly understand and respect how important the Tigers were in my younger years”
“If I can repay the club in a small way by becoming a partner, especially in the ever growing female space then sign me up” he added
By Chris’s own admission, he wasn’t a superstar but did pride himself on being the best he can be as well as doing everything right in his preparation. There were even times that straight after a game he would often head to the gym instead of going to awards just so he could be better and stronger.
Injury brought his career to an end at a young age as the stress of starting his own company and trying to make sure he could manage his back injury meant a change of direction in priorities.
We welcome back Chris and his family to the mighty tigers and we look forward to a wonderful relationship ahead, most importantly we will get to see Walms back on the hill cheering on his beloved Tigers!
