The Tigers 2021 recruitment campaign continues to gain strength with signing of Joe Stapleton for next
Joe will join brother Tom at Tigerland in 2021 when his employment brings him to Canberra later this year.
Tom Stapleton has been a real find for the tigers in 2020 holding down the ruck and has adjusted exceptional well to the Canberra footy landscape with even bigger things expected in his second year.
Joe comes to the Tigers from CSU in the Farrer League where he played 2019 and was Runner Up B&F, he was supposed to play there again in 2020 but with the Covid outbreak the University sat the season out.
He was a member of Sydney Swans Academy and also played for the Swans Reserves in the North East Australian Football followed by a stint at Sydney University. At 197cm and 94kg, Joe will add some much needed support to the big man stocks at the tigers as they look to keep pushing for sustained success.
“Coming down when Tom signed and then watching him play, I really loved the vibe of the club, that country feel and the facilities and support staff are fantastic” Joe said
GM of Football Adrian Pavese was thrilled with the signing,
“When we signed Tom and met Joe, you could just see they were not only going to be good players for the club they were going to be very good people as well”
“Tom has had a great first year with us and with Joe now coming on board we are really excited to see the two brothers driving each other and the group in 2021” he added.
The club is continuing to hold talks with the current playing groups (men & women) and hope to have some more exciting news to come.
