Pav Leaves General Managers position
The Queanbeyan Tigers would like to pay tribute to outgoing General Manager Adrian Pavese for his exceptional service over the past seven years.
His contribution and service to the tigers as a whole spans 14yrs that also included being Junior Football Manager 2009 to 2012 and coaching roles from 2008 to 2012 / 2014 / 2018 to 2024.
Pav leaves the GM position after an outstanding period of success which has not only provided the Club with numerous Senior Premierships (across the grades) and 4 Club Championships but has also continued the development of Margaret Donoghoe Sportsground (now Patches Asphalt Park) with upgraded facilities equal to any in the League.
Under his guidance and with the valuable assistance of Board Members and Volunteers, the newly named Patches Asphalt Park has undergone major renovations in the past seven years which includes the following:
Installation of new visitors changerooms.
Installation of Solar Energy Panels for the lights and facility.
Transformation of the home rooms for the highly successful Women’s program.
Security fencing around the entire facility.
New scoreboard.
New grandstand seating and additional seating around the ground.
Upgrades to the back-room Gym and warm up areas.
Asphalting of the grandstand carpark and surrounds.
Upgrade of the Growlers Members area.
Purchase of the club's own commercial mower for ground maintenance.
He has also facilitated an enormous sponsorship base that is secured for the next two seasons.
His coaching record with the club includes Triple Premierships with the Reserves 2009-2011, he was Senior Assistant Coach for the 2012 NEAFL Premiership, coached the 2018 Rising Stars Women's Premiership, 1st Grade Men's Premiership Coach 2020/2022 and coach of the Undefeated 1st Grade Women in 2024.
Wife Annette and son Josh have also provided valuable assistance to Pav with their unrelenting support of the club’s mandate to provide a strong community football club for Queanbeyan and the surrounding district.
Pav leaves to take up a full-time position with AFL NSW/ACT whilst also coaching the strong Riverina Football Club – Wagga Tigers. Fortunately, the Pavese family will not be lost entirely with Annette and Josh continuing their respective roles as volunteers in the organisation.
There will be a transitional period during January which includes assistance with the new Under 18 Grade Men’s and Women’s Queanbeyan Cup competition over 21 - 23 February – a preseason competition which has attracted teams from Sydney, Canberra and the South Coast.
After a hugely successful 100th Year, the entire Board, Players, Volunteers and Supporters wish Pav well with his future endeavours.
New Football Manager - Kane Cawse
A change of title for the leading role in the club from General Manager to Football Manager introduces Kane Cawse to the position.
Kane is a former senior grade player having played over 100 Club games. His knowledge of the club and the people within provides a strong base to commence his time in the role with an official starting date of 3 February.
He and his wife Kylie are Owners / Principal Partners of the Canberra Trophy Centre with connections to the Club through Kane's parents Ian and Judy Cawse who were heavily involved in the Clubs Junior Organisation and Kylie's parents Darryl and Robyn Jenkins being enormous supporters / sponsors of the senior club for over 30yrs.
