Sunday, 18 June 2017
2017 has shown the Australian public that football is not just about men.
The same can be said about our proud and dedicated service personnel.
On Sunday, 18 June the Tigers will honour women in football and women in the defence forces by wearing a specially designed pink camouflage jumper.
The day of home games against Tuggeranong Hawks at Allinsure Park will include defence force personnel addressing playing groups and tossing the coin for matches as well as a Women’s Luncheon at the Tigers Club featuring guest speaker Bec Goddard.
Bec Goddard – is a premiership-winning coach of the Adelaide Crows in the inaugural AFL Women’s season. Bec held an assistant coaching role with the Queanbeyan Tigers NEAFL team in 2013 before continuing to develop her coaching firstly at Ainslie, then Woodville-West Torrens U18 team in the strong SANFL.
In many respects Bec has been one of the “faces” of the AFLW – displaying passion, emotion, a sense of humour, drive, and professionalism.
The luncheon will be expertly hosted by local personality and former Tiger, Paul Walshe, OAM recently returned from an experience of a lifetime walking the Kokoda Track.
The function includes two course luncheon, 3-hour beverage package, and free entry to Allinsure Park for the Women’s match at 9.45am and after the luncheon when guests are invited to return to the football for the remainder of the First Grade match.
