Former Tuggeranong Star David Smith joins the Tigers!
The Queanbeyan Tigers have taken a step forward for the 2013 NEAFL season with the announcement that quality Tuggeranong Hawks on ball player David Smith will don the black and gold colours in 2013 and 2014.
The signing comes on the back of the Clubs recent NEAFL Eastern Conference Premiership success and is welcomed with the Club set to lose three of its premiership players for 2013.
Roy Jaques announced his retirement prior to the NEAFL Championship Final this year against Brisbane Lions while Alex Overs and Daniel Campbell are moving on and will play with Shepparton in Victoria.
Smith joins the Tigers with an impressive record built up over many years with the Hawks.
A former Tuggeranong junior he has over 80 NEAFL / AFL Canberra games under his belt as well as being named in the 2011 Team of the Year along with representing NEAFL (Eastern Conference) in 2012 against the NEAFL Northern Conference and against GWS when playing in the Under 23 Grade NEAFL Representative team.
After initially approaching the club through a player manager, the process of gaining his signature became a matter of time with other NEAFL Cubs keen to gain his services.
Strong friendships with a number of the current Tigers player list made his decision a comfortable one.
He attended the Tigers prestigious Tony Wynd Medal Presentation Night of which he described as awesome mixing with former and current premiership players / officials and supporters. He has already impressed Club officials with his strong desire to join the Tigers.
Pre Christmas training commences on 19 November at Dairy Farmers Park from 6.00pm for all grades.
New players are welcome to attend and the Tigers will announce Coaching appointments for all grades next week.
